About the Role

We're looking for someone available for 40 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months (ideal timeline: one semester through the following summer, or ideally a full year).

 

We understand the realities of student schedules and have successfully worked with interns on essential coursework, particularly courses offered on longer cycles. If you're juggling school and this internship, let's talk about what's realistic. 

 

**Who We're Looking For**
- Current students or recent graduates in biotech, chemistry, biology, or related fields
- MATC biotech program graduates especially encouraged to apply
- Strong interest in protein science or hands-on lab work
- Ability to commit to a structured schedule while being flexible where possible

 

JOB OBJECTIVE: Apply fermentation and protein purification principles and methods to tasks which support the ongoing production, projects, and responsibilities of the Fermentation and Protein Purification departments.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Production and project assistant - assist with routine production, projects, assays, and maintenance as required in Fermentation and Protein Purification production labs.

2. Be part of a team preparing for assay validation. Includes execution of repetitive automated assays. Reagent preparation and dispensing.

3. Additional duties as assigned.

6. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Pursuing a technical degree in Biotechnology.

2. At least 2 semesters towards associate degree in Biotechnology.

3. Excellent organization, communications, and planning skills.

4. Able to work full time (40hr/week) Monday-Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm, approximately.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Desire to develop hands-on skills to pursue career in industrial biotechnology.

2. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

3. Ability to work with a variety of team members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical, biological materials.

2. Ability to work in a lab environment with automated equipment.

3. Ability to work in a lab with radioactivity.

4. Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.

5. Ability to move 50 pounds.

6. Ability to wear appropriate person protection equipment (minimally safety glasses and lab coat).
