About the Role
 

 

Looking to make a valuable impact and gain useful insight and experience within Human Resources over your Summer Co-Op term? 


Canadian Niagara Power Inc. (CNPI), located in beautiful Fort Erie, is looking for a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary Human Resources program to assist and support with the day-to-day responsibilities of FortisOntario’s Human Resources team. Throughout this placement there will be exposure to recruitment, benefits and pension, labour relations, and many other related Human Resources functions. To be effective, this student must possess tact, diplomacy, good judgement/discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive information, and a positive attitude to align with the Company’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.


The successful candidate will work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week mainly at the Fort Erie Service Centre.


Key Duties: 

  • Develop and distribute employee communications and updates.
  • Brainstorm and advertise fun and exciting moral boosters and wellness initiatives.
  • Support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Team on a variety of 2026 goals, including research, data organization, presentations, and much more. 
  • Assist with recruiting and on boarding process including job postings, resumes screening, interviews, pre-hire organization, and new hire presentations. 
  • Upload, organize, and manage e-files.
  • Prepare finance reimbursement requests.
  • Generate and monitor internal/external correspondence, schedule and organize meetings, prepare expense reports, record meeting minutes, and other administrative duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing full-time post-secondary education in College or University in a Human Resources business-related program (a copy of enrollment will be requested) 
  • Advanced computer skills with practical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (strong focus on Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical, problem-solving, customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to take initiative and work pro-actively with minimal supervision.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario “G” license with a clean driving abstract.
