How You’ll Make this Internship Opportunity Your Own  

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Health Communications intern that will provide functional support to execute key communications initiatives for GDIT as the Third-Party Administrator of the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to acquire hands-on experience creating and maintaining communications products and supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement with Program members, providers, partners, and internal teams. 

A Day in the Life 
•    Assist in the development of communication products and tactics supporting outreach, training, and stakeholder engagement strategies for the WTC Health Program.
•    Help update and organize communication products and resources used by staff and partners.
•    Collaborate with teams to ensure communication content is accurate, consistent, and compliant with federal guidelines.
•    Draft, edit, and format communication materials such as letters, memos, emails, scripts, and training resources.
•    Support collection and organization of feedback from Program members, providers, and other stakeholders to improve communication products and processes.
•    Assist with content review to support compliance with plain language, HIPAA, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
•    Monitor communication effectiveness by collecting and organizing data to inform improvements.
•    Contribute to internal communication content for portals and intranet spaces.


The Must-Haves 
•    Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Health, Health Informatics, or other related major, or other related field from a United States-based college or university. 
•    Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams)

What you Offer as a Stand-Out Candidate 
•    Previous work experience related to your field of study. 
•    Experience supporting or developing content and communications products, such as emails, infographics, web content, and letters. 
•    Familiarity with writing, graphic design, and/or web content management systems.

GDIT interns are paid and full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks. Applicants should have a minimum of one semester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. Take the first step and apply today!

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $21.25 - $28.75. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
