About the Role

Hourly Rate: $25

Are you earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering and looking to apply your skills to real-world products? If yes, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Our Manufacturing Engineering & Design Engineering Teams are always looking for talented students. Our engineers are involved in all phases of product development—designing and prototyping in our R&D lab, performing qualification testing, optimizing manufacturing processes, and supporting our customers in the field. Each intern reports to an experienced Mechanical Engineer and supports areas such as CNC Lathes and Mills, Assembly & Test, CAD design, process improvement, and data analysis, all under one roof at our facility on West Taft Road in Liverpool, NY.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Modify and create 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for new and existing designs.
  • Analyze and model product designs to ensure performance and durability using FEA and CFD tools.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure design manufacturability and accuracy.
  • Analyze raw test data and write detailed reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Research specifications and evaluate design proposals through calculations and simulations.
  • Assist in the design of assembly and test tooling, fixtures, and holders.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop standardized work instructions and methods.
  • Develop and track productivity and efficiency metrics for the production floor.
  • Support production optimization initiatives, including line balancing and time/motion studies.
  • Implement 5S, TPM, and visual management programs to improve production floor operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

  • This position requires either a US Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-US person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization.
  • Completion of one to two years of a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering program at an accredited university.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and achieve results, good verbal and written communication skills, ability to set goals and meet commitments.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Desirable prior experience (but not required): manufacturing or engineering environment; Autodesk Inventor; ANSYS.

  • The primary environment of this position is the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and proper footwear.
