About the Role

Position: Performance Nutrition Intern

Reports To: MiLB Performance Nutrition Coordinator

Department: Performance / Medical

Status: Part-Time; Hourly  

Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Dates: March 30, 2026 - September 20, 2026

 

Position Summary:

The San Francisco Giants are seeking a Performance Nutrition Intern to join the Baseball Operations department. This role will provide hands-on support to the Performance Dietitians during the MiLB regular season. This temporary, part-time role is designed for individuals seeking practical experience in elite sports nutrition within a fast-paced, professional baseball environment. The intern will assist with daily nutrition operations, athlete fueling strategies, and education initiatives to support player health, performance, and recovery.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Performance Dietitians with daily nutrition operations
  • Support meal service execution, including setup, breakdown, and food quality monitoring
  • Assist with fueling stations, pre- and post-workout nutrition, and hydration strategies
  • Support body composition testing, data collection, and organization (as permitted)
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking, labeling, and organization
  • Provide logistical support for Arizona Complex League (ACL) games and special schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards in all nutrition areas
  • Observe and assist with player education and performance nutrition initiatives
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Performance Dietitians

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, or related program
  • Strong interest in sports performance nutrition, particularly baseball
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and variable schedules during ACL season
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times and when interacting with athletes, coaches, and staff
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift/move food and equipment (up to ~50 lbs.), and work in various environmental conditions.

  • Experience working in athletics, sports performance, or food service preferred
  • Knowledge of basic sports nutrition principles
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) track student or dietetic internship experience preferred
  • Previous experience in baseball or professional sports environments preferred
  • Temporary, part-time position during MiLB regular season
  • Estimated up to 28 hours per week (schedule may vary based on team needs)
