About The Company
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) is the elected community government of the Mohawk Territory of Akwesasne. Representing the interests of Akwesasró:non, MCA is responsible for overseeing a wide range of programs, services, and initiatives across the northern portion of the community. There are a total of 12 District Chiefs and one Grand Chief who is elected by the entire community. Together, the chiefs comprise Mohawk Council. They accept political responsibility for specific areas of community work. They also participate in portfolio committees to achieve community goals. MCA employs people in a delivery of services through its government which includes law enforcement, schools, health centers, administration services, governance, etc. – MCA employees between 700-1,000 people. There are ten departments within MCA, they include: • Executive Services • Department of Communications • Department of Community and Social Services (DCSS) • Department of Economic Development (ECDEV) • Department of Finance & Administration (DFA) • Department of Health (DOH) • Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment (DIHE) • Akwesasne Justice Department (AJD) • Ahkwesáhsne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) • Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS)
About the Role

Mohawk Council of Akwesasne – 2026 Summer Student Placement Opportunities

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is now accepting applications for 2026 Summer Student Placements. These positions provide students with meaningful work experience, professional development, and the opportunity to contribute to programs and services that support the Akwesasne community.

Parents/Guardians, please encourage your child to submit their own application—this is a great opportunity for them to gain hands-on experience and develop important skills.

Position: Summer Student Placement
Location: Akwesasne, ON or QC
Duration: Summer 2026 (specific dates may vary by department)
Hours: Full-time, Part-Time or temporary positions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations and program support within assigned departments

  • Support projects and initiatives aligned with community priorities

  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities

  • Other duties as assigned

Eligibility:

  • Must be a student returning to high school or post-secondary studies in the fall of 2026

  • Must provide proof of status (copy of Status Card)
