About the Role

Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with your passion for using data to drive strategy, make you a great fit for our Data Analytics Assortment Planner Intern position. Join our dynamic team today and find a rewarding career with a company that values your insights and the story you tell through data.

About Your Role:

As a DT Data Analytics Assortment Planner Intern at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll act as the "right-hand partner" to Category Directors and Merchants. You will use data analytics to define our product assortment—determining exactly which items should be in our stores to maximize growth.

Your day-to-day job duties include:

  • SKU Performance Analytics: Perform deep-dive analysis of historical product performance to develop the "wedge" (the specific product mix) for your category.
  • Inventory Modeling: Develop item-level plans to project the inventory required to hit sales, margin, and "turn" goals (how fast a product sells).
  • Strategic Trade-offs: Use assortment planning software to assess the financial impact of including new items versus removing underperforming ones.
  • Performance Tracking: Analyze actual business results against your plans and trends, identifying why variances occurred.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Provide data-driven guidance to Replenishment Analysts, Allocators, and Product Development teams to ensure everyone is aligned with the assortment strategy.
  • Actionable Insights: Propose clear action plans to leadership that capitalize on market opportunities and mitigate financial risks.

Your Required Skills and Experience:

  • May 2027 graduate currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or Business Management.
  • Analytical Mindset: You enjoy "playing with numbers" and finding patterns in large datasets.
  • Communication & Influence: You aren't just a "numbers person"—you are an extrovert for data. You enjoy talking to people and influencing merchants by communicating complex data clearly.
  • Detail Oriented: This is your top skill. You understand that in retail, small details in a spreadsheet lead to big wins in the store.
  • Fast-Paced Problem Solving: Ability to pivot as markets change and trends evolve.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.

The Internship-to-Career Path

We are looking for long-term partners, not just summer help. This role follows a unique growth trajectory:

Summer Internship: A full-time immersive experience at our corporate office.

The Case Study: At the end of the summer, you will present a capstone case study evaluating your analytical and influence skills.

The Co-op: Upon successful mastery of skills, you will receive an offer to transition into a year-long, part-time remote Co-op while you finish school.

The Career: Successful completion of the Co-op leads to a full-time offer upon graduation.

Your Perks and Benefits:
We offer a wide variety of rewards to support your health, wealth, and mental well-being. In addition to medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision insurance, we offer:

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Retirement plans with matching contribution
  • Employee Stock Purchase Program
  • Educational Assistance
  • Access to PerkSpot, an employee discount platform for goods and services
  • And much more!
