The Position

AI & Data Science Intern

We're seeking a motivated AI & Data Science Intern to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, clinical experts, and cross-functional teams, contributing to exciting projects that leverage generative AI and advanced analytics to optimize Roche's digital healthcare solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and real-world healthcare innovation.

Key Responsibilities

As an AI & Data Science Intern, your key duties will include:

• GenAI Prototype Development: Support the design and building of Generative AI prototypes, focusing on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Vectorization to enhance data retrieval and response accuracy.

• Prompt & Context Engineering: Experiment with and refine prompt engineering and contextual orchestration techniques to optimize LLM performance for laboratory, clinical and to-Consumer use cases.

• Agentic AI Exploration: Assist in developing and testing Agentic AI frameworks that can autonomously execute workflows and reason through complex healthcare data tasks.

• Data Pipeline Construction: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to preprocess, clean, and ingest diverse datasets into vector databases and analytical models.

• Visualization & Insights: Transform complex model outputs into actionable insights using data visualization tools, helping stakeholders understand AI-driven trends and performance.

• Operational AI Improvements: Suggest and implement processes to improve the efficiency of the AI lifecycle (MLOps), offering innovative ideas that align with the team's technical objectives.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

• Technical Skills: * Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain).

  • Foundational understanding of Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus) and embedding techniques.

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib/Seaborn).

  • Knowledge of SQL and building basic data integration pipelines.

• Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on how AI can solve specific business and clinical challenges.

• Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical cross-functional teams.

• Growth-Oriented: Enthusiastic about staying at the forefront of the rapidly evolving Generative AI landscape.
