About the Role

Summary/Objective: Performs assigned, introductory engineering tasks for the design and preparation of plans and details and performs design calculations for projects.  Works side-by-side with engineering professionals in a fast-paced, professional environment to apply knowledge and skills learned through a postsecondary civil engineering program.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assists in developing design concepts, studies, and design options
  • Performs basic analysis and design calculations under direct supervision
  • Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates using computer-aided engineering software
  • Performs field investigations and construction administrative duties under direct supervision
  • Provides support to engineering staff members as needed
  • Assists in reviewing close-out documents as needed

 

Education/Experience/Skills

  • In progress towards earning a BS or MS in a civil engineering or related program, preferably at a junior level or above
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrates the ability to exercise good engineering judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred
  • Demonstrates ability to successfully engage with professionals at all levels in an engineering environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
