We’ve been helping investors for nearly 30 years. We’ve seen market highs and lows and been resilient throughout. We’re now the UK’s number one flat-fee investment platform, with assets under administration approaching £75 billion and over 450,000 customers.

For a simple, flat monthly fee we provide a secure home for your pensions, ISAs and investments. We offer a wide choice of over 20,000 UK and international investment options, including shares, funds, trusts and ETFs.

We also bring impartial, expert content from our award-winning financial journalists, highly engaged community of investors, and daily newsletters and insights.

Purpose of the role:

ii advice is redefining the UK financial planning landscape. By combining human expertise with smart digital tools, we provide a modern, transparent and client-centred advice experience. Our mission is to challenge industry norms and deliver meaningful, accessible financial planning to people across the UK.

We are offering a unique 10-month internship for a motivated university student who wants hands-on experience inside a disruptive, fast-growing financial planning business.

As a Financial Planning Intern, you will work across key parts of the business — supporting day-to-day operations while contributing to a meaningful project that directly impacts ii advice’s growth and delivery of client value.

You will gain exposure to the Support team, the Customer Relationship team, and the Adviser team, while also working closely with our wider proposition and compliance functions. This role is designed to give you real responsibility, real experience, and a genuine understanding of how a modern advice business operates.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in financial planning, fintech, consulting, data, or client experience design.

  • Support operational and administrative processes that enable a smooth client journey
  • Help prepare client materials and support the Customer Relationship team
  • Shadow Financial Planners and observe parts of the client advice process
  • Work with digital tools, workflows, and financial planning systems to understand how ii advice delivers advice at scale

Meaningful Project Work

Across your placement, you will be responsible for leading or contributing to a structured project that could include areas such as:

  • Improving the digital client journey
  • Analysing client behaviours, data, or trends to support proposition enhancements
  • Building components of our financial education or content strategy
  • Supporting internal process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Contributing to a compliance, technology, or operations initiative
  • Your project will have clear objectives, guidance from a mentor, and real-world impact on how ii advice evolves

Exposure Across the Business

  • Work with the Proposition team to understand how new digital features and services are developed
  • Learn from the Compliance function about the regulatory environment of UK financial advice
  • Attend internal meetings, planning sessions, and innovation workshops
  • Contribute to ongoing initiatives aimed at disrupting the UK financial planning market

What You’ll Gain

  • Exposure to a modern, tech-enabled financial planning business
  • Experience across multiple teams and functions
  • Opportunity to deliver a project with real business impact
  • Mentorship from experienced financial planners, analysts and leaders
  • Insight into both the human and digital sides of financial planning
  • A strong foundation for future roles in advice, fintech, data, strategy, consulting, or client service

To apply for this role, you will need:

  • To be eligible to work in the UK
  • To be over 18 years old as of 1st September 2026
  • To be a 2nd year student in a full-time undergraduate degree with an industry placement year, in a subject relevant to this role
