Rockstar Games is on the lookout for an intern who will work with our hardware engineering group. As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will collaborate with an experienced team deploying and supporting new gear around the world.

This is a paid, fixed term contract position running for 10 weeks from June 2026 to mid-August 2026, with the expectation of a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate will work in Rockstar’s new studio on the Westside of Los Angeles, CA.  

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar Games Hardware Engineering team design and build cutting-edge hardware tools for motion capture and game production.
  • We collaborate closely with our stakeholders to create and invent new devices.
  • We design cameras, high precision timing circuits, scanners, etc., all in the service of creating the best games.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist hardware engineers in performing tasks such as constructing electronic equipment.
  • Assemble and solder components. 
  • Operate 3D printers, milling machine, and drill.
  • Receive guidance and mentorship from Leads and team members and collaborate with members of the performance capture technical group.  

REQUIREMENTS

  • This internship is intended for undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates who have completed coursework in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Interest or experience designing circuit boards and programming embedded systems.
  • Passion for tinkering.
  • Demonstrated involvement in related work performed outside of academic requirements
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Great team communication skills.
  • Excellent writing skills.

PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Embedded Linux experience.
  • Experience with Python and C.
  • Familiarity with Rockstar products.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the company reserves the right to modify base rates of pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
