Rockstar Games is on the lookout for an intern who will work with our performance capture R&D team. This is a paid, fixed term contract position running for 10 weeks from June 2026 to mid-August 2026, with the expectation of a 40-hour work week. The successful candidate will work in Rockstar’s performance capture studio in Bethpage, Long Island.  

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar Games Performance Capture team collaborates with animators, directors, and artists from around the world to produce the significant range of character animations required for our games.
  • We use innovative technology to inform and capture our actors' movement, facial, and audio data to develop photo realistic content in our games.
  • We fabricate sets, customize hardware, develop props, and use every tool possible to achieve the highest standards for our shoots.
  • We work with motion-captured camera rigs and animated virtual cameras to build camera movements and angles that are grounded in the real world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a R&D resource for the motion capture facilities group.
  • Support R&D efforts with development and testing skills.
  • Collaborate with Rockstar teams across disciplines and all studio locations.
  • Achieve well-scoped goals based on guidance and support from Leads and team members.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This internship is intended for undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates who have completed coursework in software development, mechanical engineering, film science, or a related field.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-focused team environment.
  • An eagerness to learn new technologies and develop skillsets.
  • Excellent writing skills.

PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Basic C++ or Python knowledge.
  • Experience in a 3D program such as CAD for diagram creation.
  • Experience with fabrication processes including 3D printing, milling, soldering, and assembly.
  • Awareness of motion capture or stagecraft.
  • Familiarity with Rockstar products.

The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per hour. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the company reserves the right to modify base rates of pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
