About The Company
MassDEP serves the Commonwealth by protecting natural resource areas that involve water, land and air. MassDEP is responsible for ensuring clean air and water, safe management and recycling of solid and hazardous wastes, timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources. MassDEP enforces environmental laws, provides technical assistance to cities and towns, issues permits and licenses for activities near sensitive resources, inspects contaminated site cleanups, and partners with other federal and state agencies, municipal officials and environmental stakeholders.
About the Role

Agency Overview
A&F IT is a unit under the Executive Office for Administration & Finance (A&F) and is overseen by the A&F IT Secretariat Chief Information Officer (A&F SCIO). A&F IT is comprised of over 200 employees working on IT systems and applications for 15 various A&F agencies. A&F IT oversees and provides all the IT application support for these agencies to ensure their IT operations are running effectively and efficiently. 

Bureau/Division Overview
One of the key agencies supported by A&F is the Department of Revenue. The Department of Revenue's core mission is to collect the revenues required to support the business of the Commonwealth, to make a difference in the lives of children by enforcing the financial responsibilities of parenthood, and to assist Massachusetts cities and towns in sound and efficient fiscal management.

Position Summary
The Datacenter Team is looking for Datacenter Interns to help transition our datacenter operations. This internship offers valuable experience working with enterprise-level technology in a professional datacenter environment.

Core Responsibilities:
•    Assist with cataloging servers and hardware, recording serial numbers, asset tags, and model information in detailed spreadsheets.
•    Help safely remove servers from racks and extract hard drives for secure destruction.
•    Arrange decommissioned equipment on pallets by type (servers, networking gear, storage) and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
•    Assist with other tasks as needed to support our datacenter decommissioning mission.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Ability to stand, bend, and kneel comfortably throughout the workday
•    Comfortable lifting equipment up to 50lbs and working on ladders
•    Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
•    Team player who follows safety protocols
•    Flexibility to take on various tasks that support our decommissioning goals

An external candidate recommended for a position with the Department of Revenue will be subject to a background check that includes checks for: state and federal tax compliance; child support compliance; education verification; Massachusetts CORI checks; criminal background checks in state(s) of current and previous residence/employment; validation of eligibility to work in the United States; and national fingerprint-based criminal background checks.
