About The Company
Red Cedar Investment Management believes that a rigorous, fundamental investment process which focuses on the most attractive securities in the income universe can help produce improved risk adjusted returns for clients. Further, we believe that income is the primary driver of fixed income returns over time and that superior performance can be achieved by finding cheap cash flows via a fundamental value approach. Our flexibility, nimbleness and ability to use a wide range of asset classes provide us with more opportunity to find value than is the norm. About the Role

Job Title:

Investment Analyst Intern

Number of Positions:

1

Location:

Cincinnati, OH

Location Specifics:

In-Office

Primary Job Responsibilities:

This internship is designed to provide a broad, hands-on foundation in institutional asset management.  The role is intentionally cross-functional — you will rotate meaningful time across investment analysis, operations, and investment industry marketing, working closely with professionals in each area.  This is not a siloed experience; you will see and contribute to how an active investment management firm operates from the inside.

Investment Analysis (50%)

  • Learn the Bloomberg Terminal environment and apply functions to real investment projects
  • Conduct security screening and analysis using Bloomberg and Excel across fixed income, preferred securities, and equity strategies
  • Build and refine Excel models for asset allocation analysis, credit assessment, and quantitative security evaluation
  • Summarize and annotate webinars, software releases, and market research to support the investment team
  • Participate in investment team meetings covering market outlook, strategy, and asset allocation

Operations (25%)

  • Assist with portfolio reporting and performance diagnostics using Clearwater Analytics and internal tools
  • Support automation of recurring reporting tasks using Excel (and scripting tools where applicable)
  • Help maintain data integrity and assist with operational workflows that support the investment and client service functions

Investment Industry Marketing (25%)

Note: Marketing in institutional asset management is fundamentally different from consumer or traditional marketing. This work is analytical and data-driven — it centers on communicating investment strategies, performance, and market insights to sophisticated institutional clients, consultants, and prospects.

  • Research, analyze, and format investment and market data for use in client-facing presentations and pitch decks
  • Assist in preparing quarterly performance reports, strategy commentary, and market update materials
  • Support RFP responses and consultant database updates with accurate performance and portfolio data
  • Help ensure consistency in how RCIM's investment strategies are positioned and described across materials

Minimum Requirements:

We are seeking current college students (rising juniors or seniors preferred) pursuing a degree in one or more of the following fields:

  • Finance, Economics, or a related finance-adjacent major
  • Computer Science (particularly relevant for operations automation work)
  • Business Analytics or Data Science

Skills & Qualities

  • Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude, with the ability to communicate findings clearly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis, modeling, or scripting is a plus
  • Genuine curiosity about financial markets and a willingness to stay informed on market developments
  • Collaborative team player with a professional attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to take on a broad range of tasks, learn quickly, and incorporate feedback
  • Self-starter mentality — willing to go above and beyond to develop financial market knowledge
