In December 2025, Google announced an agreement to acquire Intersect, to enable more data center and generation capacity to come online faster while accelerating energy development and innovation. After close, we’ll continue doing exactly what we were built to do - develop, construct, and operate the most ambitious power and data infrastructure in the country.

Intersect’s operations will remain separate from Alphabet and Google under the Intersect brand. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.


About This Role

 

As part of Intersect’s Business Development team, you’ll help shape new products and growth initiatives that support the transition to a cleaner energy future. This internship offers hands-on experience building data-driven insights, supporting strategic decision-making, and collaborating across teams to evaluate market opportunities. You’ll contribute to real projects that inform how Intersect expands its offerings and engages with clients.

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect’s mission to accelerate the renewable energy transition, identifying new opportunities for growth and helping bring innovative solutions to market. By working cross-functionally with finance, development, and commercial teams, the Business Development group drives long-term value creation while enabling scalable impact. Joining this team offers exposure to high-priority initiatives, strategic thinking, and meaningful opportunities for growth and learning.

 

What You’ll Do

 

Evaluate New Product Opportunities

  • Support the identification and assessment of new product offerings aligned with Intersect’s growth strategy

  • Conduct research and analysis to inform product feasibility, market positioning, and potential impact

Build Strategic Insights

  • Develop clear, data-driven models and presentations to support internal decision-making and client engagement

  • Translate complex data into actionable insights that guide business strategy

Drive Market Intelligence

  • Research market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities across energy and infrastructure sectors

  • Synthesize findings into concise recommendations that inform long-term growth initiatives

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support ongoing business development initiatives

  • Contribute to multiple workstreams, balancing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience through internships or academic projects in energy, finance, or consulting will help you succeed

  • Proficiency in Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build and analyze data models

  • Experience creating presentations in Google Slides or similar tools

  • Familiarity with data analysis and financial modeling concepts

  • Basic proficiency in Python is helpful but not required

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into insights

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills that support collaboration and storytelling

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Foundational understanding of energy markets, financial principles, or consulting frameworks is helpful

  • Curiosity about electrification, decarbonization, and infrastructure trends will support your success

  • A collaborative, proactive work style with a willingness to learn and contribute across teams

  • Adaptability, resilience, and curiosity when navigating ambiguity and new challenges

Program Details

 

Duration: 10 weeks

Program Dates: June 1 – August 14

Location: Interns are expected to work in-person from our San Francisco office

Mentorship: Each intern will receive guidance from experienced professionals throughout the program

Capstone Presentation: Interns will present their final project to executive leadership at the end of the program

 

Compensation

  • $35 USD per hour for undergraduate students.

  • $45 USD per hour for graduate students.

 

Applicants must be authorized to work in Canada or the US. Intersect is unable to sponsor visas for this position.
