Purvis Industries' business unit, Foresight, is looking for qualified Intern candidates to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. This role would gain wide exposure to several engineering functions and build foundational knowledge in electrical and control systems while becoming familiar with company operations. Candidates are welcome to intern at each step of their journey and our internship with grow with you. Each of the responsibilities below will be enhanced and reflective of an individual's experience. The Intern’s responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • AutoCAD Basics:
    • Training in AutoCAD for creating basic electrical schematics.
    • Practice modifying existing drawings and creating new layouts for small projects under supervision.
    • With growth opportunities to take responsibility for producing detailed AutoCAD electrical schematics for ongoing projects and collaborate with engineers to update and refine drawings based on design changes or field feedback.
  • PLC Programming Introduction:

    • Basic training on PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
    • Assist in troubleshooting and small modifications of ladder logic programs under the guidance of a senior engineer.
    • Demonstrate skills in Foresights on site lab by programming basic PLC functions
    • With growth opportunities to develop and simulate PLC programs for small-scale systems under guidance
  • Production Experience:

    • Work in production to understand the hardware and components used in industrial control systems.
    • Learn about the relationship between parts and their corresponding industrial automation functions.
    • Assist in building a control panel
    • With growth opportunities to in project support by owning the process and engaging with customers 
  • Assisting with Basic Electrical Tasks:

    • Shadow an engineer to help with wiring, testing, and installation of control panels.
    • Shadow an engineer through quality acceptance of the panel and FAT of a final product
  • Developmental Focus:

    • Gain exposure to Purvis’ operational environment.
    • Familiarization with industrial electrical components, terminology, and safety standards.
    • Mentorship opportunities

Applicants should have one of the following:

  • In the process of a degree from a 2-year or 4-year accredited institution.
  • Experience working in plant maintenance or similar.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

Applicants must be able to complete the internship in person at one of our locations.
