Delivered through an industry-first Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, Locus Robotics enables performance to evolve as operational needs change.
About the Role

Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator’s Warehouse Management System, utilizing and optimizing existing facility infrastructure. This is an opportunity to join the ranks of a brilliant, high-performance team, deploying cutting-edge technology to address real-world logistics challenges for major global brands.

Locus Robotics is a leader in eCommerce fulfillment optimization, enabling warehouse operators to achieve 2–3x efficiency gains through collaborative autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). Our solutions integrate seamlessly with existing warehouse infrastructure and management systems.

Locus Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op to support the development of our autonomous mobile robots and related accessories. This role sits within the Customer & Continuation Engineering group and focuses on design, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to bring scalable, cost-effective hardware solutions to production.

Onsite position located at our Wilmington, MA headquarters, requiring five (5) days per week onsite. Only local candidates will be considered.

Co-Op period is June/July - December 2026, during standard business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET).

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and detail components and assemblies for AMRs and supporting accessories using Creo/Windchill and SolidWorks
  • Evaluate designs for strength and stiffness using hand calculations, FEA, and other analytical methods
  • Develop components optimized for high-volume, cost-effective manufacturing
  • Partner with operations, manufacturing, and procurement teams to improve assembly efficiency and meet production timelines
  • Collaborate with suppliers to define competitive manufacturing strategies
  • Support prototyping efforts, including machining, 3D printing, and rapid iteration processes
  • Assist in developing and executing validation and test plans
  • Document designs and present work through design reviews to cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Academic or hands-on experience in robotics, mechanical, or electromechanical design
  • Experience designing for manufacturability (machined parts, sheet metal, castings, thermoplastics)
  • Familiarity with CAD tools such as Creo, Windchill, or SolidWorks
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals, including stress analysis and basic FEA
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Experience working with suppliers, RFQs, and manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to requirements definition, validation, and risk analysis (e.g., FMEA)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with teams and interact with customers
  • Hands-on, team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach
