About the Role

SUMMARY
The Software Engineering Intern will join the Technology team at GCM Grosvenor, a growing alternative investments firm where technology is central to enabling data-driven decision-making. Our engineers drive innovation by building and extending platforms that support investment decisions, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the employee experience. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on product-oriented teams, contributing to the development of applications and solutions used across the firm. This role offers hands-on experience with modern engineering practices in a real-world environment.

This 10-week summer internship is based in our Chicago office and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our Software Engineering Summer Interns will be involved in the following critical activities:

  • Join one of our product-oriented software engineering teams for the summer. You will work closely with team members and leaders on engineering projects.
  • Create an approach and then design and execute on project deliverables.
  • Participate in all team Agile ceremonies.
  • Leverage hands on experience with technology and learned practical approaches to solve real-world business problems. Create solutions the team will use beyond the internship period.
  • The summer will culminate with an intern presentation showcasing what the intern created and learned throughout the internship program.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

You should apply if you meet most of the following:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (grad date: Dec 2027 – Spring 2028)
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Comfortable with object-oriented programming (C#, Python, C++, or Java)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Exposure to web development (HTML, JavaScript, APIs, etc.)
  • Familiar with Agile development, cloud technologies, and the software development lifecycle

You’ll stand out if you also have:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
  • Experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools (JUnit, Selenium, etc.)

Actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual's experience, skills, and qualifications for the role.  Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on factors such as individual, team, and company performance as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
