Job Summary

This 6‑month Laboratory Internship offers an excellent opportunity for students passionate about science, engineering, and laboratory operations to gain hands‑on experience in a commercial laboratory environment. Interns will work closely with industry professionals on meaningful technical projects while supporting daily laboratory and pilot line operations.

The program provides exposure to advanced water treatment technologies in a supportive and safety‑focused environment, helping interns bridge academic knowledge with practical industry experience.

Work Location: Solaris @ Kallang

Key Learning Objectives / Takeaways

Throughout the internship, interns will:

  • Gain firsthand exposure to a commercial laboratory setup, understanding real‑world laboratory workflows and standards.

  • Develop technical skills, including laboratory technique execution, equipment operation, care, and basic maintenance.

  • Build essential soft skills, such as effective communication with stakeholders, teamwork, problem‑solving, and critical thinking.

  • Strengthen analytical skills by participating in application development and troubleshooting activities.

  • Gain clearer insight into potential career paths in laboratory, engineering, or applied sciences.

  • Expand their professional network through collaboration with experienced laboratory and engineering professionals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day laboratory operations to ensure smooth workflows and accurate testing.

  • Assist senior lab technicians through a buddy system during pilot line activities to maintain safety and efficiency.

  • Perform Ion Exchange testing and support RO skid operations and membrane autopsy procedures.

  • Participate in application development projects, including Dye Testing and Ion Exchange Resin (IER) testing skids.

  • Prepare chemicals and manage inventory to ensure consistent availability of laboratory materials.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with safety standards.

  • Work independently and collaboratively to meet laboratory and project objectives.

  • Safely lift and handle loads of up to 18 kg as part of routine laboratory tasks.

Job Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a local polytechnic or university.

  • Preferred fields of study: Science, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related disciplines.

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, pilot line operations, or wastewater treatment is an advantage.

  • Legally authorized to work in Singapore.

  • Able to safely lift up to 18 kg and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Able to commit to a full 6‑month internship.
