Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and build fixtures and tooling to enhance manufacturing safety, quality, and efficiency
- Operate various machines and equipment to fabricate and assemble tooling and fixtures
- Assist in programming and setting up equipment used in the production of tooling and devices
- Develop and improve work area layouts to optimize workflow, ergonomics, and safety
- Participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities to identify and implement process enhancements
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and operators to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges
- Document designs, processes, and improvements for future reference and standardization
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, and fabrication techniques
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating manual or CNC machinery
- Exposure to lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies
- Basic understanding of tooling design and process optimization
Location, Timing & Other Important Details
- Position is approximately 12 weeks in duration, with a flexible start date in May and end date in August based on school schedule
- You must be available to work onsite at our Ashland, MA facility 5 days per week. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided, so candidates must have access to their own local housing and reliable transportation.
