Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico Children’s Campus is seeking a Student Employee – Program Support Staff 4 to provide technical-level support within an accredited early childhood education program. This position requires applied knowledge of child development and professionalism to assist teaching staff, support classroom operations, and ensure compliance with licensing, health, and accreditation standards. Student employees serve as reliable team members contributing to a high-quality learning environment for young children while gaining practical experience in early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
Support classroom instruction and daily routines in accordance with early childhood best practices
Assist with maintaining active supervision and safe learning environments
Apply positive guidance strategies and support children’s social-emotional development
Monitor and follow health, safety, and licensing requirements
Assist with program documentation, data tracking, and compliance tasks
Communicate professionally with staff and contribute to team-based classroom operations
Provide guidance or orientation to new student employees or volunteers as assigned
Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff
Complete required training and professional development activities
Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

Coursework in early childhood education, child development, education, psychology, or related field
Experience working with young children in group settings
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
