Product Innovation Intern

The Product Innovation Intern will work closely with Gallagher Bassett’s Application Development, Architecture, and Product Innovation teams to accomplish the following objectives:

• Rapid Prototyping (PoCs): Quickly demonstrate the feasibility of identified opportunities
• Opportunity Identification: Research emerging technologies and identify potential applications at GB
• In-Flight Support: Plug into ongoing projects and provide support to senior team members

As an innovation intern, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and use cases, and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design and develop proof of concepts using Generative AI to solve specific business friction points.
• Conduct “blue-sky” research on emerging AI tools and frameworks, presenting recommendations on how they can be applied to our current workflows.
• Design and implement algorithms and models to improve the quality and diversity of prompts generated for our AI systems.
• Assist the senior innovation team in refining existing solutions and optimizing prompt performance for active projects.
• Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of prompt-generation capabilities, identifying areas for improvement and proposing innovative solutions.
• Stay up to date with the latest research papers, industry trends, and best practices in AI language models, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance prompt-generation capabilities.
• Translate complex technical AI concepts into clear, non-technical updates for stakeholders.

Required:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science or a related field at an Accredited University
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong analytical and problem-solving skill set
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong flexibility and adaptability skills
  
  

Preferred:

• Experience with low-code/no-code AI tools is a plus for rapid ideation
• Experience with low-code/no-code AI tools is a plus for rapid ideation
• LLM Orchestration: Hands-on experience with frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex to build multi-step AI agents
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Understanding of how to connect LLMs to external data sources using vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, or Chroma)
• Prompt Engineering: Mastery of advanced prompting techniques (e.g., Chain-of-Thought, Few-Shot) to elicit high-quality, consistent outputs
• Model Evaluation: Familiarity with LLM-based evaluation frameworks (e.g., RAGAS or G-Eval) to measure hallucination rates and answer relevancy

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
