Brief Summary

Title: Summer Intern - Information Technology, Infrastructure & Operations 

 

You'll Report To: Senior Vice President of Information Technology

 

The IT Infrastructure & Operations Summer Intern will support infrastructure engineering initiatives within the IT department. This project-based internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related disciplines.

 

The Intern will observe and analyze core infrastructure operations including cybersecurity controls, server management, backup systems, cloud environments, and disaster recovery processes. The capstone project will take the form of an infrastructure resilience and security assessment, evaluating current practices, identifying potential risks or improvement opportunities, and presenting recommendations to executive leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

 

This is a temporary, project-based internship for Summer 2026.


What You’ll Do

Internship Project: Infrastructure Resilience & Security Assessment

The Intern will focus on the following key initiatives:

  1. Cybersecurity Monitoring & Control Review
  • Observe implementation and monitoring of cybersecurity controls protecting company systems and data.
  • Review threat detection and response workflows.
  • Analyze user access provisioning and account management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance security awareness and reduce risk exposure.
  1. Server, Backup & Disaster Recovery Evaluation
  • Review Microsoft Windows Server configurations and provisioning standards.
  • Analyze backup and restore procedures across on-premise and cloud storage environments.
  • Evaluate Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) strategies and documentation.
  • Assess restore testing processes and system recovery readiness.
  1. Cloud & Virtual Infrastructure Analysis
  • Observe virtual computing environments and hypervisor usage.
  • Review AWS and Azure cloud configurations and access models.
  • Evaluate infrastructure scalability, redundancy, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop a structured assessment summarizing strengths, risks, and modernization opportunities.

 

What You’ll Do & What You’ll Learn:

  • Gain hands-on exposure to enterprise cybersecurity operations and monitoring tools.
  • Learn principles of identity and access management within Windows Server environments.
  • Participate in backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning exercises.
  • Develop understanding of virtualization platforms and cloud infrastructure (AWS & Azure).
  • Observe how IT engineering teams balance security, scalability, and operational uptime.
  • Strengthen analytical skills by evaluating infrastructure resilience and risk.
  • Learn business continuity planning and operational risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop a professional case study and executive presentation summarizing findings and recommendations.

 


What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

Education:           

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Rising junior or senior preferred.

Skills:                                   

  • Interest in cybersecurity, infrastructure engineering, or cloud systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking, operating systems, or cloud computing concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical teams.

Schedule: 8:30-5:30pm, M-F.  #LI-Onsite

 

Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.
