Internship Airframe Daily Repair - Design and/or Stress Repair Engineer  (d/f/m)

Your location: Hamburg Finkenwerder 
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Are you wondering how you actually get from university to Airbus? Your working student position is at the Finkenwerder plant and you can take the ferry from Teufelsbrück to the Airbus ferry terminal and back to the university in the morning and at noon. Alternatively, you can take the ferry to Finkenwerder and then ride your bike for about another 15 minutes to the main entrance. 

Do you want to learn how airlines operate our products and what is important for them? Would you like to know what kind of structural damages can occur to the products in-service and how to solve them? 
Are you motivated about providing repair solutions towards our customers?
Do you enjoy working with people and collaborating with different organizations? 

This job will give you the opportunity to work with engineering suppliers, airframe customer support organization and many other engineering teams as well as with our international engineering centers located across the world. About us
We are a team of 40 committed engineers working on all aspects of repair engineering across the perimeter of forward and aft fuselage as well as doors. When customers find issues in the fuselage of their aircraft, we are ready to support them by delivering quick and efficient repair solutions to enable the safe operation of the aircraft and to keep their fleets airworthy. Due to the nature of the airline business, it´s important that we are very reactive and pragmatic, and our lead times are normally measured in days or hours rather than weeks. 

We are an international, dynamic and experienced team working jointly with our other engineering centers located in India, China and the US providing a fast and reliable service.
With us you will learn the end to end repair process, and you will have a chance to work on interesting projects along the way focusing always on customer and in-service operations.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • You will be actively contributing to the operational coordination of the customer inquiries, making sure that they are delivered on Time and Quality

  • You will be one of the focal point for communication with our internal customer to agree on target dates and provide them a realistic view of our capacity and capability

  • You will get to know the airframe repair business, specifically focusing on balanced distribution of the workload within the team and different engineering centers

  • You will monitor the resource and workload situation on a daily and weekly basis, and

  • contribute to a robust planning, including improvement of the planning process (ex: automatization)

  • You will lead interesting initiatives or projects along the way focusing always on customer and in-service operations


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Fluent in German and English

  • You are studying Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 

  • You have a strong sense of responsibility and are willing to develop your knowledge about:

  • overall aircraft design

  • primary structure principles

  • understanding of stress and airworthiness requirements

  • You are customer oriented to find and propose the best solution to fit customer needs, also under time pressure (passengers may be waiting!) 

  • You enjoy working in a multicultural environment and multidisciplinary environment

  • Project management experience (apprenticeships and internships included)

  • Strong verbal and written communication in our business language (English)

  • desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation

  • The ability to be self aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development
