About the Role

Overview:

Are you looking for an opportunity to intern at a great organization this summer? Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield, CT is seeking several interns in a variety of disciplines to join their team to experience an environment enriched with collaboration and learning. The internship will include a robust onboarding program, provide opportunities for professional growth with challenging assignments, an opportunity to give back to the community with a volunteer day, and will encourage interns to participate in a collaborative project with their intern peers. 


Individuals that will be an ideal fit for Kamatics are motivated, dependable, and seeking to work in a fast-paced environment. The internship duration is expected to run through the summer months and will last approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Interns will be expected to work approximately 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday; work hours may be flexible. 



Responsibilities:

  • Create bearing designs and Kamatics proposal drawings using Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs to meet customer requirements within quality, cost and timeline expectations.
  • Create test plans and/or test reports for planned or completed in-house bearing tests, as required. Read and understand test plans and requirements for testing.
  • Assemble and operate test rigs. Monitor test rigs to ensure data recorded is accurate and rigs are operating correctly.
  • Consult with Sales on product requirements. Assist Sales with presentations or may create technical presentations for use by Sales personnel. Deliver formal technical presentations or have face-to-face discussions with internal and external customer on detail design and product issues.
  • Develop project plans and execute short to mid-term projects dealing with customer specific product development activities and/or Kamatics new product development projects.
  • Produce cost estimates for new Kamatics design proposal for use by Sales.
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers; share knowledge and lessons learned. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • Resolve problems; work with Applications Engineering, Purchasing, Sales Representatives, Product and Process Suppliers and customers to resolve issues.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor. 
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow Kamatics work procedures. Prepare samples for micro examination, hardness measurements, and liner thickness distribution.
  • Measure and analyze prepared samples to support Operations, Quality Control, Test & Development, and R&D activities.
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures. 
  • Review test data, including data from external testing labs.
  • Document processes; maintain records.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures. Contribute to 5S programs in work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.


Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electromechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or Civil Engineering is preferred.

Experience:

  • Entry level position. Related internships or co-ops are a plus. 
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • CAD experience is a plus


Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., walk for distances including use of stairs, wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as required. Work with and around machinery, chemicals, heat, and cold.
