About the Role

Overview:

Are you looking for an opportunity to intern at a great organization this summer? Kamatics Corporation in Bloomfield, CT is seeking several interns in a variety of disciplines to join their team to experience an environment enriched with collaboration and learning. The internship will include a robust onboarding program, provide opportunities for professional growth with challenging assignments, an opportunity to give back to the community with a volunteer day, and will encourage interns to participate in a collaborative project with their intern peers. 


Individuals that will be an ideal fit for Kamatics are motivated, dependable, and seeking to work in a fast-paced environment. The internship duration is expected to run through the summer months and will last approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Interns will be expected to work approximately 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday; work hours may be flexible. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Perform testing on a variety of aerospace and industrial components with use of testing and measurement equipment provided. Train on testing equipment and measuring devices to provide accurate outgoing data. Proficiency in Excel and Word is necessary to the position.


  • Assist in the recommendation and design of process improvements utilizing Lean manufacturing methods to enhance testing efficiencies and reduce costs. Assist in the research of testing methods and equipment. 


  • Assist in developing testing methods and work instructions on new products or new equipment to meet testing and quality requirements. Conduct tolerance studies. Determine tools, jigs and fixtures to support testing operations.


  • Assist in troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical problems. Resolve problems. Work with Engineering and the Test Lab to resolve issues. Ability to read/interpret technical instructions and cross reference industry standards to complete testing. Create Work Guidelines.


  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety and environmental incidents to supervisor. 


  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment. 


  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.


 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering 


Experience: 

  • Entry level position. Related internships or co-ops are a plus. 
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD); Seimans NX (Solid Modeling) is preferred
  • Tool knowledge and design fixtures is preferred 
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge is preferred


Physical Requirements: 

  • Occasional (15%-40%) lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs. 
  • Frequent bending/twisting
  • Frequent use of mechanical and measurement tools
  • Frequent mental and visual attention
  • May spend 50% of time working while standing
  • Work with and around machinery, chemicals, heat, and cold.
