Position Title: Pre-Construction/Project Engineer Intern

Pay Range: $18.00-$22.00/Hr

Location: Glenwood Springs, CO

POSITION PURPOSE

 

The Pre-Construction portion supports the pre-construction team with planning, budgeting, estimating and early project coordination activities. This role provides hands on exposure to how projects are priced, scoped, and prepared before construction begins. The Project Engineer portion assists the project management and field teams with daily construction operations. This role provides real-world exposure to scheduling, coordination, field management, and documentation on active construction projects. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimating using company estimating software.
  • Support the development of conceptual budgets and value-engineering options.
  • Help prepare bid packages, subcontractor solicitations, and scope sheets.
  • Track bid responses and communicate with subcontractors as directed.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and document action items.
  • Assist with project schedules during the pre-construction phase.
  • Conduct market research for materials, pricing trends, and vendor qualifications.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, document control, and tracking logs.
  • Support project managers and superintendents with daily site operations.
  • Help coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field activities.
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Assist with updating project schedules and monitoring progress.
  • Review plans and specifications; identify discrepancies or potential issues.
  • Perform site walks to document work progress and quality.
  • Collect field data for reporting, safety compliance, and project closeout.
  • Support punch-list activities and delivery of turnover documents.
  • Valid Drivers License.

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. 


REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be a Junior or Senior in Construction Management at 4-year college level.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel required); familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, or scheduling software is a plus.


EDUCATION

  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA or higher preferred.

 


COMPUTER/TYPING

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel required); familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, or scheduling software is a plus.


LANGUAGE ABILITY

  • Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
