About the Role

Description

NAFSA Association of International Educators is the world’s largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international education and exchange. The association provides professional development opportunities, promotes research and knowledge, and convenes conferences and collaborative dialogues. 


The Leadership and Professional Development Services (LPDS) team leads NAFSA’s efforts to create and deliver professional development programs and services to the international education field. The LDPS department is comprised of the following professional areas:

  • Education Abroad 
  • International Student/Scholar Services and International Enrollment Management (ISSS/IEM)
  • Learning & Training 
  • Regional Affairs
  • Volunteer Engagement 

This internship is a joint position, shared between the departmental units and reporting to the Associate Director, Regional Affairs.


Summer 2026 Intern Projects 

  • Collect illustrative stories from volunteers and members, especially early career professionals. 
  • Support 4-5 in person and online events for the international education community, including assisting with registration, promotion, and online logistics for the event.
  • Support administrative duties related to Regional Conferences
  • Research international education trends and issues and assist in identifying thought leaders.
  • Assist with correspondence, by email or phone, and create tailored membership lists. 
  • Support customer service needs across all units, help answer email and phone calls related to programs, products and services.
  • Review, update, organize, or edit existing web and print resource materials.
  • Participate in department and unit meetings and, when needed, assist with organizing meeting materials. 
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter; proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word; experienced with customer service; adept with Zoom and social media platforms; and have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have an interest in and/or knowledge of higher education, international education, international education research, and U.S. campus internationalization. 


Compensation: $18.00/hour for 20 hours per week with opportunity for holiday, retirement benefits, if eligible.

To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US without requiring NAFSA’s sponsorship. We welcome F-1 students wishing to complete their practical training through their established curricular practical training (CPT) and optional practical training (OPT) eligibility.
