About the Role

This position is a co-op/work-based learning position on our Metals Team. The position is designed to allow students the opportunity to learn and apply welding techniques and skills in a manufacturing environment. Below is our standard Metals Team Member job description. Students will learn alongside our current welders in all aspects listed below. A training agreement between Landscape Forms and the student's school is required to participate in this work-based learning program.

How You Contribute:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Operate within facility safety guidelines and promote the use of safe practices.
  2. Knowledge of product descriptions, use of scheduling systems, and prioritize work to meet daily production.
  3. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use measuring equipment.
  4. Maintain accurate documentation.
  5. Responsible for learning all operational skills and processes through cross training; i.e. welding, metal finishing, loading fixtures, cutting, etc.
  6. Setup, operate, and maintain machinery and equipment.
  7. Ability to weld/fabricate using either MIG and/or TIG and weld to product quality standards.
  8. Ability to work independently or as a team member to communicate daily goals and run production.
  9. Maintain inventory control of materials using the Kan Ban system and other material systems.
  10. Actively promote workplace organization following established 5S criteria.
  11. Recognize and prep critical areas to meet established product quality standards.
  12. Produce a smooth, continuous flow of product through cell to achieve at least 95% on-time delivery.
  13. Participate and implement suggestions to continuously improve products and processes.
  14. Adhere to the guidelines as established in the Employee Handbook.

Criteria for Success:

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend and twist 80% of the time, and stand up to 10 hours.  The work environment is on the shop floor in a noisy and sometimes hot location.  Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the principal accountabilities.
