About the Role

Description

OVERVIEW

Cadrex is searching for an Engineering Intern to participate as a member of the engineering team in all aspects of engineering functions. Develops drawings and specifications for the manufacture of products, defines and creates processes, and assists in continuous improvement projects on the manufacturing floor. Supports Engineering Department staff in all areas and works with the staff to assist with a variety of tasks. This will be a full time 11-week internship. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learns and adheres to engineering processes and procedures
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements  
  • Supports production staff with problem solving and discrepancy resolution. 
  • Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve fabrication or assembly problems  
  • Assist team in identifying process improvements  
  • Develops manufacturing drawings and creates CNC programs  
  • Develops specifications from general description and uses solid design CAD products 
  • Determines material and all tooling necessary for subsequent fabrication  
  • Works directly with production and engineering to layout process required to manufacture parts and/or assemble 
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance features and adjusts machine controls or control media as required  
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications  
  • Provide technical support to customers  
  • Provide engineering support assistance for quality issues as required  
  • Uses Lean Manufacturing processes and techniques, such as work instruction, value stream mapping, SMED, Kaizen events  
  • Create flow charts and spreadsheets in support of staff projects  
  • Assists with the documentation of engineering data 

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of project management software and manufacturing software a plus 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Proficiency in CAD software, SolidWorks preferred

EDUCATION

  • Must be actively enrolled in a technical field of study such as engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
