Position Summary

The Finance & Accounting Intern will support day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and analysis across the organization. This role provides hands-on experience in program finance, accounting, and billing, while working closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and business processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support program finance activities, including project tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Assist with accounting processes such as journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Support customer billing, including invoice preparation and tracking billed vs. unbilled amounts
  • Maintain and update financial reports, models, and datasets
  • Perform data analysis and assist with ad hoc reporting requests
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data across systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support financial processes and data collection
  • Assist with process improvements and other finance-related initiatives
  • Ability to support travel within the Northern VA area
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Strong academic performance with demonstrated interest in finance or accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling or data analysis is a plus
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
  • Must be geographically located within a commutable distance to the Trident location 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Exposure to ERP systems, Power BI, or other data tools is a plus
