Position Summary
The Finance & Accounting Intern will support day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and analysis across the organization. This role provides hands-on experience in program finance, accounting, and billing, while working closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support accurate financial reporting and business processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support program finance activities, including project tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Assist with accounting processes such as journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Support customer billing, including invoice preparation and tracking billed vs. unbilled amounts
- Maintain and update financial reports, models, and datasets
- Perform data analysis and assist with ad hoc reporting requests
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data across systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to support financial processes and data collection
- Assist with process improvements and other finance-related initiatives
- Ability to support travel within the Northern VA area
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong academic performance with demonstrated interest in finance or accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with financial modeling or data analysis is a plus
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
- Must be geographically located within a commutable distance to the Trident location
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Exposure to ERP systems, Power BI, or other data tools is a plus
