Its state‑of‑the‑art Innovation & Culinary Center transforms trends and culinary inspiration into legendary products through an award‑winning commercialization process. The company also manufactures and markets Mrs. Richardson’s dessert sauces and Nance’s mustards/condiments, in addition to producing finished goods for the private label sector. BRF maintains its headquarters and a manufacturing facility in Macedon, New York; with a Culinary Innovation Center in Westmont, Illinois; and offices and manufacturing facilities in Williamson, New York; Pennsauken, New Jersey; and Corona, California. This position is located at our Westmont, Illinois Innovation Center.

WHAT WE NEED

The business goals of this internship are to accelerate development within the strategic growth area of natural colors, build foundational technical knowledge to support future R&D initiatives, and strengthen our pipeline of new talent. The intern will directly contribute to advancing natural color systems for beverage applications and expanding BRF’s capabilities in naturally derived ingredient solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Create a natural color library for beverages and other select product lines.
  • Develop natural color systems that can be leveraged for future BRF beverage launches.
  • Test and recommend natural color options based on ingredient sources, supplier variability, processing stability, and shelf‑life performance.
  • Partner with marketing and culinary teams to identify the best product bases (e.g., refreshers, juice, other) and collaborate with suppliers to evaluate color options, recommended dosages, and shelf‑life outcomes.
  • Optimize analytical, formulation, sensory, and processing parameters to create successful natural color solutions.
  • Deliver guidelines for natural color selection and processing, including approaches for establishing baseline formulas.
  • Produce baseline ingredients, formulas, and processes demonstrating strong color quality and stability.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Currently enrolled in a collegiate university in a Food Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree program.
  • Minimum completion of two years in the program.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical curiosity.
  • Results‑oriented mindset with strong data interpretation skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously, asking questions and seeking information when needed.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with diverse populations.
  • Due to SQF regulations, fluency in written and verbal English is required.
