Role Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Monitoring and Diagnostics team, based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Our mission is to develop state of the art monitoring technologies, generally deployed in an Electrical Substation, allowing a customer to understand and optimize the operating condition of their Electrical Power Transformers, circuit breakers and other substation assets.

We are looking for a dynamic and talented individual to join our Technology department.  This role encompasses various aspects of Mechanical Engineering, from design to testing and certification. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in Product Development processes.
  • Identifying and creating innovative solutions.
  • Designing new mechanical systems.
  • Defining test specifications.
  • Supporting our global supply chain to sustain manufacturing and supplier processes.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, a strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Root cause analysis
  • Analysis of existing processes and execution of improvements
  • Experimental testing of dissolved gas analytics / sensor technology
  • Production line re-structuring
  • Project planning and execution
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI)
  • Support of daily production
  • Improve H&S and Ergonomics
  • Learn and apply lean tools
  • Process automation
  • Document processes

Essential Criteria

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
  • Has or currently are pursuing a degree in Engineering/Science (preferably Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical and Mechanical, but all considered)
  • CAD experience (Solidworks or equivalent)
  • Competency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Demonstrated time management capability
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment or independently on multiple projects with strict completion deadlines.
  • Good writing skills, accuracy and an eye for detail.

Desired Criteria

  • Previous industrial work experience
  • Experience using ANSYS simulation tools
  • Ability to collaborate across various functions and levels within the operations team
  • Confident at programming in excel and managing or developing databases/macros
  • Familiar with programming language example Labview or Matlab
  • Drive to eliminate waste
  • Enthusiastic and imaginative
