About The Company
The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) leads economic development activities in North Carolina. We work together with the Governor and the Department of Commerce to help businesses launch, grow and locate in our state. Our far-reaching network is made up of government officials, local and regional economic development organizations, service providers, international business, tourism and trade executives, community leaders and educational institutions. We also publish research on key business, trade and industry trends affecting our state, and actively track facilities and sites available for relocation.

EDPNC Rotational Internship Program (9–12 Months) 

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina (hybrid/office)
Schedule: Part-time (15–20 hours/week during academic year; additional summer hours optional) 


About the Program 

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) is excited to offer a year-long rotational internship designed to develop the next generation of economic development leaders.  Unlike traditional internships, this program provides hands-on experience across multiple business areas, allowing interns to contribute to meaningful, real-world projects while gaining a comprehensive understanding of how EDPNC supports communities across the state.  Interns will complete three structured rotations (3–4 months each) across key functional areas such as business recruitment, marketing, research, tourism, and strategy.

What You’ll Do 

Responsibilities may vary by rotation but could include: 

Core Operations / Business Recruitment & Development 

  • CRM and data tracking support 
  • Project coordination and research assistance 
  • Exposure to statewide recruitment strategy 
  • Cross-functional shadow days with all divisions 

Marketing / Communications / International Trade 

  • Market research and competitive analysis 
  • Content development support 
  • Event planning and execution assistance 
  • Stakeholder communications 
  • Digital marketing and social media support 
  • Export assistance efforts 

Tourism / Government Affairs / Strategy 

  • Tourism marketing initiative support 
  • Public relations and partner relations exposure 
  • Cross-functional strategic project 

Requirements

Who Should Apply 

We’re looking for highly motivated students and recent graduates who are eager to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. 


Required: 

  • Junior, senior, graduate student, or recent graduate  
  • Majoring in Public Policy, Economics, Business, Marketing, Analytics, Tourism, or related field  
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively  

Preferred: 

  • Interest in economic development, public policy, or business strategy  
  • Experience with research, data tools, CRM systems, or marketing platforms  
  • Demonstrated leadership or campus involvement
