About The Company
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP) is a pipeline that will transport oil produced from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania where the oil will then be sold onwards to world markets. The pipeline is buried and once topsoil and vegetation have been re-instated people and animals will be able to cross freely anywhere along its length.
About the Role
Environment Intern

The Environment Intern at EACOP will support the Environment team in implementing environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project requirements, and contributing to sustainable environmental practices across EACOP project activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Compliance & Monitoring
  • Assist in monitoring project activities to ensure compliance with environmental laws, permits, and EACOP standards.
  • Support implementation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) commitments.

  • Participate in environmental inspections, audits, and monitoring activities.

  • Help track environmental performance indicators and compliance status.Environmental Management Support

  • Assist in implementing Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).

  • Support supervision of contractors to ensure adherence to environmental procedures.

  • Identify and report potential environmental risks and non-compliance issues. Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of environmental reports (daily, weekly, monthly).

  • Maintain environmental records, logs, and databases.

  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking.

Key Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field from recognized University
  • Must provide Introduction letter from university and copy of student I.D.
  • Must provide a partial transcript / testimonial showing current academic scores with a minimum of an
    upper-second degree.
  • Must be available full-time for the duration of the internship period.
  • Must write and submit an internship application letter.

Context and environment

  • The Environment Intern will be based in the EACOP Office with some travels to site.
  • The Environment Intern will report to the Environment Lead.
  • He/she will interact with Project teams and Construction Contractor teams on a continuous basis with the guidance of the Environment Team.
  • He/She is responsible for ensuring and maintaining good relationships between the EACOP and all its stakeholders and the local community.
