Job DetailsJob Location: PROCTOR RECREATION CENTER - PEORIA, IL 61605Position Type: InternshipSalary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 HourlyDuties: Under the supervision of the Education Manager – Proctor, the Education Intern is responsible for the following: Supervise and assist youth with homework, computers, or other after-school or program activities. Ensure the proper use of supplies and equipment during activities. Communicate effectively in verbal and written situations. Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures. As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned. All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program. Perform all other duties as assigned. This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week. QualificationsEducation: A four-year college degree in zoology, education, or a closely related field is preferred. Although a degree is preferred, experience in a similar position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for all or part of the educational preference. Knowledge and Ability: Ability and willingness to perform assigned job duties. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends, evenings and holidays, as assigned. Ability to learn and implement group management skills and activities to a diverse population. Ability to physically participate in activities with youth. Ability to follow internship dress code of business casual attire.
