About the Role

Description

Federation of State Medical Boards is seeking a Summer Intern to support cybersecurity and AI governance initiatives. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for students interested in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and risk management. The intern will gain hands-on experience analyzing AI policies, learning about emerging security risks in generative AI systems, and assisting with research related to secure AI implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and label State AI policies and procedures using the designated internal tool.
  • Review and analyze AI-related policies to support internal governance and compliance initiatives.
  • Complete assigned Responsible AI training modules.
  • Learn about the organization’s PDC Endeavor generative AI project and its objectives.
  • Research and become familiar with the OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Model Applications and emerging AI security risks.
  • Assist in performing analysis between the PDC Endeavor project, the OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Model Applications, and relevant State AI policies.
  • Document findings and provide summaries or recommendations to support cybersecurity and AI governance efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity risk, and technology policy.
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to clearly document findings and communicate insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks or AI governance concepts.
  • Coursework related to cybersecurity, AI ethics, data governance, or information security.
