Environmental Technician Trainee (Kelowna, BC)

Work with Worley’s multi-disciplinary Water Processing Engineering team to support operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility at the Highway Creek site remediation project near Kelowna, BC. This is a full-time, four-month contract (May–August 2026), with 50–100% of time spent onsite supporting a multistage passive treatment system.

Responsibilities

·         Collect environmental samples

·         Monitor wildlife

·         Support weed control and revegetation activities

·         Complete site and equipment inspections

·         Assist the water treatment operator with general operations and maintenance

 

Qualifications

Required

·         Based in the Kelowna area

·         Available for 50–100% onsite work near Kelowna on a flexible schedule (field days up to 12 hours); remaining time is desk work/reporting

·         Full-time availability (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, May–August 2026

·         Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

·         Able to safely perform light physical work (e.g., carry sampling equipment, move a small mobile generator)

·         Strong time management, including in remote work settings

·         Strong written and spoken English

Preferred

·         Hands-on experience (e.g., facility operations, production, or agriculture)

·         Environmental sampling experience (surface water and groundwater)

·         Coursework or co-op in water management/quality/treatment and/or contaminated sites investigation/remediation

·         Team-based experience solving complex problems

·         Strong communication and collaboration skills

·         Technical report writing skills

·         Safety training/certifications (e.g., Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive, CSTS/VCSTS, TDG, Intermediate First Aid)

Education

Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in one of the following:

·         Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Bioresource Engineering (or similar) from an EGBC- or APEGA-recognized institution

·         Environmental Science, Environmental Technician/Technologist, or a closely related field

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the pay rate range is $24.84 to $36.53 per hour.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
