2025 Undergraduate Summer Intern – Job Posting

Department Title: Franklin Equity Group

Location: The intern candidate must be based in San Mateo, CA this summer, and be able to commute into the San Mateo office on a Hybrid basis (4 days/week).  

Start Date: All interns must start in office and in person on June 8, 2026.

Anticipated End Date: August 14, 2026 – All interns must be in office and in person on their last day to return equipment. Interns must be located in the same location throughout the duration of their internship and are prohibited from returning laptop/equipment to a different office location or shipping their equipment back.

The Franklin Equity Group is looking for Equity Research Associate Interns (Buy-Side) who have strong intellectual curiosity and who are interested in learning more about the investment management industry. We are looking for independent, resourceful Juniors who are looking for summer internships before their senior year.  We are looking for interns that will feed into our 3-year structured Associates Program that will include 1 on 1 mentorship, CFA designation sponsorship and tailored learning opportunities. The program is designed to give associates escalating responsibilities. There will also be options to rotate into other roles including marketing, product strategy, venture capital, and quantitative analysis. 

Equity research associates will learn how to invest in public equities, how to analyze both companies and industries, how to model and value companies, and how to make an effective stock pitch. Associates will have the unique opportunity to meet with numerous Fortune 500 executive teams in person, attend investment conferences to listen to investors and meet corporate executives, and attend investment team meetings with our sector analysts and various portfolio managers.  Associates will work with investment banks and develop contacts within these banks’ equity research teams and sales organizations to help conduct research. Finally, associate interns will wrap up the summer with a presentation to the group on their summer project. This position will be based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting research analysts in assimilating information and reaching investment decisions
  • Attending company meetings and conferences
  • Conducting field research
  • Forecasting profits and cash flows to help value companies
  • Listening to company quarterly calls and investor meetings
  • Reading sell-side research reports on companies, industries, and market trends
  • Reading daily news regarding a stock and/or industry
  • Writing research reports
  • Creating investment related presentation materials

Ideal qualifications, skills & experience

  • Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from a top university
  • Strong academic performance with a GPA of 3.5 and above (3.0 for technical majors)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills a must
  • Self-directed, can work within broad guidelines and prioritize work flow
  • Ability to consume, distill large quantities of information and develop insights from vast resources
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment
  • General understanding of the Microsoft suite
  • Programming abilities a positive but not required

This is a full-time internship where students will work approximately 37.5 (dependent on state/location) hours per week and earn competitive hourly pay of $37-$47 (dependent on location, function, and year in school) USD per hour.
