About The Company
Amperesand’s medium voltage power conversion solutions enable fast, efficient, and resilient electrification on a global scale for critical power consumers like AI datacenters and industrial loads. Combining next generation Solid State Transformers, cutting edge controls, and AI-first software, Amperesand is building the cornerstone of our future power infrastructure. Our technology was pioneered by the Energy Research Institute at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and spun out by Xora Innovation.
About the Role

Company Overview

Amperesand is reinventing how the world powers its most critical systems.

We are facing a once-in-a-generation opportunity for infrastructure disruption. Electricity demand is skyrocketing, driven by AI factories, electric vehicles, and modern industrial growth. Energy supply is shifting to incorporate a more diverse mix of resources – including solar, gas, and batteries – at a massive scale.

And yet the power infrastructure behind our latest mega-projects hasn’t meaningfully changed in nearly 100 years. Supply chains for today’s infrastructure equipment can’t match the pace and sophistication of critical energy projects. Amperesand is building hardware and software that rewrites this broken power infrastructure playbook to support a new era of energy abundance.

We’ve built a new class of intelligent, software-defined power infrastructure products leveraging a decade of advanced medium voltage Solid State Transformer research that’s now ready for commercial deployment.

Our products and solutions go far beyond the capabilities of traditional electrical equipment. We make power systems that are faster to deploy, dramatically smaller and more efficient, and capable of supporting modern, dynamic energy needs for tomorrow’s most demanding energy consumers.

Scalable in-house advanced manufacturing capability is our foundation for meeting timeline and quality expectation to serve infrastructure customers around the world.

Amperesand is led by breakthrough energy hardware development veterans and funded by top tier investors who share our vision of building a category-defining energy technology company.

With hubs in San Francisco, Reno, and Singapore, our global team is laser focused on building foundational technology to solve the most pressing problems in power infrastructure at scale.

Join us in building the power foundation of the future!

Role Summary
This internship focuses on supporting the development and deployment of automated manufacturing systems. You will work across a range of tasks, including programming, system integration, testing, and commissioning of industrial equipment. In addition, you will contribute to the development of standardized control solutions—such as reusable PLC logic and HMI interfaces—to improve consistency and scalability across systems. Overall, this role provides hands-on experience with real automation systems while exposing you to how complex equipment is built, integrated, and brought into operation in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with PLC programming and sequence development for automated systems
  • Support system integration, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues during system bring-up
  • Contribute to the development of reusable controls logic and standard libraries
  • Assist in building and refining HMI interfaces for equipment interaction
  • Support validation and testing of system functionality and performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams during system development and deployment

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Exposure to automation, controls, or PLCs through coursework or projects
  • Basic understanding of electrical or control system fundamentals
  • Interest in hands-on work with hardware, systems, and debugging
  • Willingness to learn quickly and take on new challenges
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
