Job Description

The UK Protection Reinsurance function brings together Retail and Group Protection, managing reinsurance arrangements across all protection product lines. The team sets and executes reinsurance strategy, ensuring accurate premium and claims settlement with reinsurers.

A high‑performing team of seven across Hove and London secures optimal terms and benefits, maximises commercial value, controls risk exposure, and supports efficient capital usage.

What you'll be doing:

  • You’ll receive on the job training and coaching to help you gain the professional and technical skills needed to succeed
  • Develop your skills in data analysis, coding and process automation
  • Work with business stakeholders to design and deliver improvements to automate our processes and build analytical solutions
  • Supporting reinsurance data reporting activities
  • Work with other data professionals to automate and productionise outputs
  • Communicate with stakeholders in a non-technical manner, providing explanations of your work and discussing ways to overcome challenges
  • Have the opportunity to meet and network with new colleagues. within your team and across the wider organisation

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:

  • On track or achieved 2:1 degree in STEM subject
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Clear verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own time
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • A proactive approach to personal development and learning
  • Some prior exposure to coding or query languages such as SQL, Python, or R
  • Some awareness or experience of cloud based data platforms (for example Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Any exposure to data and analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, Dataiku, or R
  • Familiarity with excel macros/VBA desirable but not essential
  • Above all a genuine interest in working with data and improving processes

This role can begin from June to September 2026 depending on the availability of the successful candidate.
