Job Summary

TYLin is seeking a Intern to join our Roads and Highways team in the Toronto office for Summer 2026.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Civil Engineering Intern, Roads and Highways

What You Will Do 

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, design plans, and technical reports related to transportation infrastructure (roads, highways, transit, active transportation).
  • Conduct field investigations and site inspections to support project development.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and tender documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Provide assistance with basic project management tasks such as scheduling support, meeting minutes, document controls, and task tracking.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, drafters, and support staff.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
  • Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements.

Your Education and Experience 

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering undergraduate degree program at a recognized university.
  • Knowledge of civil/transportation engineering principles, standards, and practices.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle considered an asset.
