About The Company
We help train and evaluate AI to master real-world tasks in finance, healthcare, and legal.
About the Role

About Mentis AI

We're a rapidly scaling company at the forefront of AI innovation, bridging human expertise with artificial intelligence. With leadership from ex-Lazard and Partners Group professionals, we operate globally from our London and San Francisco hubs. We're building AI systems that understand finance, healthcare, and law by working with domain experts who bring real-world knowledge to AI training.

What You'll Do

This is not a typical internship. You'll work directly with our founding team and senior finance practitioners on projects that shape how AI understands financial markets. Your day-to-day work will be hands-on, analytical, and directly impactful:

  • Build and execute financial models: construct DCF valuations, comparable company analyses, LBO models, and credit assessments that serve as training data and evaluation benchmarks for AI systems.

  • Perform deep financial analysis: analyse earnings reports, dissect financial statements, assess credit metrics, and produce institutional-quality research outputs that teach AI models how finance professionals actually think.

  • Design evaluation frameworks: create scoring rubrics and benchmarks that test whether AI models can handle real-world finance scenarios: merger analysis, debt structuring, equity valuation, and more.

  • Develop annotation guidelines: translate complex finance workflows (deal origination, due diligence, credit committee processes) into precise, structured labelling instructions for AI training.

  • Stress-test AI outputs: review and critique model-generated financial analyses, identifying errors in logic, methodology, or market understanding that a trained analyst would catch.

  • Collaborate with ML engineers: work cross-functionally to refine prompts, iterate on data quality, and improve model performance in finance-specific tasks.

Above all, we're a lean and fast-moving team - while the above captures the core of the role, we're looking for adaptable, enthusiastic candidates who want to contribute to growing the business in whatever way they can.

Who You Are

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a finance master's or advanced graduate programme (MFin, MBA, MSc Finance, or equivalent).

  • Relevant finance experience: internship or full-time in Investment Banking / M&A, Private Equity, Equity Research, Credit & Leveraged Finance, or Corporate Finance.

  • Technically rigorous: confident in financial statement analysis, valuation methodologies (DCF, comps, precedents, LBO), etc.

  • Excel power user: comfortable building complex financial models from scratch, including sensitivity analyses and scenario modelling.

  • Clear communicator: able to distil complex financial concepts into structured, actionable steps.

  • Detail-oriented: you spot the errors that others miss.

  • Curious about AI: excited to see your finance expertise directly improve AI capabilities.

Bonus: CFA Level I or higher.
