At PowerCo, we are shaping the battery future. Founded by the Volkswagen Group in 2022, PowerCo is a globally operating battery cell manufacturer with a strong commitment to sustainability. The company, headquartered in Salzgitter, is rooted in Europe and is responsible for the development and production of battery cells, as well as the vertical integration of the value chain. PowerCo is currently ramping-up three cell factories with a combined capacity of up to 200 gigawatt-hours per year: Salzgitter in Germany, Valencia in Spain, and St. Thomas in Canada. About the Role
 
Who we are

Our mission has started. We are starting our own battery cell production in Battery Valley in Salzgitter and ramping up our headquarters for global cell production. The Procurement department is the interface to the supplier market and is thus responsible for a large part of the value creation. The responsibilities range from raw material purchasing to supplier management and plant purchasing to value engineering.

  
 
Your role and key responsibilities

Supporting our colleagues in value engineering with:

  • Management of value engineering activities with R&D, purchasing, production
  • Bottom-up cell cost calculations for concept decisions
  • Control and review of material cost assessments in the procurement process
  • Control and review of production processes for decision-making and budgeting
  • Active contribution to the design-to-cost process of cell projects
  • Cost engineering contribution inside of the company change management
  
 
What you bring to the team
  • Ongoing technical/university studies in the field of industrial engineering, process and production engineering with a focus on battery cells, business chemistry, chemistry, engineering economics
  • Affinity for AI & Python: Posses basic Python skills and Interest for AI/LLMs to support LLM driven patent-analysis in order identify future technologies
  • Basic understanding of costs as well as entrepreneurial thinking and acting
  • Language: English fluent, German fluent
