Description
Milford Mining Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join our Assay Lab team for the summer. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced mining laboratory, where you'll support the analysis of ore, process samples, and environmental monitoring, contributing directly to daily operations and decision-making across the site.

Essential Functions:
- Assist with sample preparation (drying, crushing, pulverizing) in accordance with lab protocols
- Support wet chemistry and instrumental analysis (e.g., AAS, ICP) under supervision
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate lab records
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment
- Learn and apply standard operating procedures for assay workflows
- Participate in QA/QC procedures, including handling of blanks, duplicates, and standards
- Work collaboratively with geologists, metallurgists, and lab technicians

Work Environment
- The work is performed in a laboratory setting, containing instrumentation, machines, chemicals, hoods, equipment, and instruments.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles, dust, fumes, acids, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
- Exerting 20 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10 to 25 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
The lab operates seven days per week from 7am – 7pm, and internship will take place during these days/hours. Days and hours to be determined by business need and intern work availability.
Travel
Travel between buildings on the property will be required at times.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related science field
- Completion of introductory chemistry or laboratory coursework preferred
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow precise procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE in accordance with safety protocols
