Position Summary

As an intern you are exposed to the various positions in the Engineering Services Division. The intent is for an intern to begin learning many of the duties listed below: 

Assist, as requested, in the project design, plan production, planning, organizing, and reporting activities related to engineering. 

Proficiency in various MS Office and CAD software is preferred. You should be a self-motivated professional pursuing a BS degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering. Excellent oral and written communication, decision-making, problem resolution, and a sense of initiative are important for this position. You should have a team-oriented attitude as well as a desire to grow professionally with every internship opportunity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support engineering department with day-to-day deliverables 
  • Mathematical calculations and checking 
  • Read, understand, and apply specifications and engineering criteria
  • Assist with report preparation 
  • Perform reviews of the work performed by others. 
  • Assist with special projects as needed 
  • Administrative tasks for the department 
  • Other duties as assigned by office leadership
  • Attend Project and Administrative Meetings

Requirements

  

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma 
  • Current student of an accredited institution in a Civil Engineering program pursuing a BS degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office environment. A hybrid schedule may be required where a portion of the work would be completed from home. Occasional site visits as required.
