About the Role

Position Summary:

N3B is looking for summer interns for a variety of departments, including those listed below: 

  • Business Services
  • Engineering & Nuclear Safety
  • Environmental Remediation
  • Environmental, Safety, Health and Quality

The internship will run from June 8th-August 6th.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):

  • Business Services Intern: Responsible for special projects in either Accounting and Finance or Acquisition Management. Examples include account reconciliations and procurement report tracking. 
  • Engineering & Nuclear Safety Intern: Partner with the Engineering Systems group to perform duties to aid in N3B mission execution. Analysis of engineering problems, field walk downs of systems, and components to determine facility/component status. 
  • Environmental Remediation Intern: Assist with field characterization/remediation execution. Review work plans and technical documents. General environmental investigation and work scope. 
  • Environmental, Safety & Health: Responsible for supporting ESH Team Professionals and Technicians with the assessment and control of environment, safety and health risks. 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Must be currently enrolled in a 4-year program at an accredited university. 
  • Must currently have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5
  • Must be willing to work full time in Los Alamos, NM from 6/08/2026 through 08/06/2026. 
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. 

Business Associations: 

Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor and other personnel in the section or group.

Impact: 

Contributions are usually limited to task-related activities. Errors do not typically have a major effect on the organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office work environment.

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the N3B Summer Intern will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner to include protecting the confidentiality and integrity of Personally Identifiable Information (PII). This role will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
