Intern, Data Analyst and Support

Job Description

Overview

The IT Support & Data Analysis intern supports the creation of dashboards, organises and manipulates data, and assists with various related projects. They manage and provide support for Project Information Management Systems (PIMS) across multiple large-scale engineering and construction projects.

Your role

• Gather stakeholder requirements and translate client requests into practical solutions.
• Develop, support, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics using Power BI.
• Quickly design prototypes or mock-ups with Excel or visualisation tools to facilitate client discussions and accurately identify their real needs.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and implement reports, dashboards, and other data products, as well as train end users to optimise their use of reporting solutions.
• Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex datasets from various sources and formats.
• Ensure project team members and clients fully understand the platforms provided.
• Work effectively with project operations teams, application managers and analysts, and the IT department.
• Take initiative to resolve identified issues promptly.
• Contribute to and lead initiatives aimed at improving overall operational efficiency and performance.
• Conduct advanced diagnostics on applications when necessary.

About you

• Undergraduate or college student in computer science, engineering, technology, or a related field.
• Experience in creating, designing, analysing, and maintaining data warehousing products and BI reporting.
• Knowledge in using reporting software and databases (SQL, etc.), writing queries, ETL development, mapping, and report writing.
• Advanced Excel skills would be an additional advantage.
• In-depth technical knowledge and experience with relational databases.
• Solid analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, and analyse business requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including drafting technical and training documents for experienced users.

• You will have demonstrable experience working with clients and colleagues to understand requirements and develop solutions to address their key challenges.
• This means you will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand business needs, listen attentively to problems and gain a thorough understanding of the issues and working environment.
• The ability to build strong working relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds, gaining their trust and buy-in for proposed solutions, is an asset.
• You will be confident working in a team to deliver agreed solutions.
• You will demonstrate the ability to innovate, with a passion for keeping up to date with developments and their practical applications, shaping delivery in tightly constrained technical and commercial environments.

Skills:

• Business acumen (experience in the E&C industry is a plus).
• Technical skills (SQL, Power BI, Azure, Excel, Visio).
• Experience working with IT outsourcing partners.
