For this position, we anticipate an hourly rate of $26, alongside the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in commercial banking and relationship development.


JOB SUMMARY

As a Commercial Banking intern, you’ll work directly under an experienced banking officer in developing pipeline of opportunities across US through direct outreach of Muslim Institutions. This role is ideal for a recently graduated college student interested in pursuing a career in finance, particularly within ethical and Shariah-compliant financial services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Database Validation

  • Responsible for accurately collecting and updating customer information from various sources into Salesforce database.
  • Validate and verify the data for accuracy and completeness and ensuring through web searches, calling and or methods. 


Originating Banking Transactions

  • Generates new opportunities through prospecting, calling, and following up on referrals.
  • Learn the financing process from initial outreach, underwriting, underwriting, financial projections, appraisals, documentation, and closing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate information tracking of all calls and leads in Salesforce and CRM software and coordinate with financing and deposit teams to follow-up with customers. 


Marketing Support

  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing marketing data and performance measurements. Track campaign efficiency, spot trends, and offer insights to guide decision-making and strategy improvements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Literacy in English.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recently graduated or working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related fields. 
  • Proficient in analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). 
  • Strong oral/written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Adaptable and responsive.


INTERNSHIP STRUCTURE:

  • Length: Internships are scheduled to run for 12 weeks. When feasible, Stearns will work to accommodate the needs of your scheduling requirements (should an internship be required or recommended for college graduation).
  • Hours: 40 hours per week expectation. Specific requests for hour modifications will be considered.
  • Managers will have bi-weekly one-on-ones with interns, meet mid-point for a formal review, and provide intern an evaluation during the last week of the internship.
  • HR will meet with intern at 30- & 90-day marks for a stay interview.
  • Interns will be expected to complete paperwork and training upon the start of their internship.
  • Interns will be assigned a mentor to support them through the program. 
  • Participation in Internship Program does not constitute full time offer of employment upon completion of internship. 
  • With positive performance and a business need for a full-time role, Interns may be eligible for full time positions upon completion of their internship.
