Our Company: Schulte Hospitality Group is a division of Schulte Companies, a leading third-party management company with deep, multi-generational experience in all facets of the hospitality industry. *We are seeking a candidate available to start in mid-June or early July and continue through the first few weeks of October; however, we are happy to offer flexibility with dates for the right candidate.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Catering & Event Coordination
-Support the planning and coordination of group events, meetings, and social functions
-Communicate client needs with operations teams including food & beverage and front desk
-Compose and distribute sales correspondence, contracts, and reports (including BEOs, sales contracts, PACE reports, and statistical reports)
-Participate in pre-convention and pre-event meetings
-Coordinate timelines and deadlines with clients (rooming lists, cutoff dates, deposits, and contracts) to ensure all requirements are met
Event Execution
-Work events on-site to ensure smooth execution and high service standards
-Assist with event setup and breakdown, including meeting room configurations and décor
-Act as a liaison between clients and hotel departments during events
-Troubleshoot and respond to client needs in real time
Administrative & Operational Experience
-Learn reporting, forecasting, and tracking group performance
-Support day-to-day administrative functions within the Sales & Catering departments
-Gain exposure to budgeting, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations
-Input and manage group rooming lists with accuracy and attention to detail
-Respond to sales and catering inquiries in a timely and professional manner
-Create and update Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
-Assist in managing client deposit schedules and tracking payments
By the end of the internship, the student will:
-Gain extensive hands-on experience in hotel sales, catering, and event execution, actively contributing to real business outcomes—not just observing
-Develop a comprehensive understanding of the full sales cycle, from initial inquiry and prospecting through contracting, execution, and post-event follow-up
-Shadow the Director of Sales (DOS) to gain insight into leadership decision-making, revenue strategy, and client relationship management
-Participate in revenue management calls and strategy meetings, building an understanding of forecasting, pricing, and market positioning
-Collaborate directly with General Managers and the Front Desk team to understand how sales, operations, and guest services align to deliver a seamless guest experience
-Build confidence in client-facing interactions, including responding to inquiries, leading site tours, and supporting event execution
-Gain practical experience in event planning and on-site management, including working events and assisting with setup to understand operational flow
-Strengthen organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills necessary for supervisory and leadership roles
-Leave the internship with a well-rounded, behind-the-scenes understanding of hotel operations—helping them confidently determine if a career in hospitality and hotels is the right fit
This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded, immersive experience that bridges classroom learning with real-world application in a fast-paced hotel environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-Demonstrated interest in hospitality sales, event planning, or hotel operations
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
-Highly organized with strong attention to detail
-Professional demeanor with a customer-service mindset
-Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules
-Ability to assist with physical event setup (lifting, moving tables/chairs, etc.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Understands cross team functions and ability to manage processes
- Strong project management skills
- Strong problem-solving ability, including metrics-driven and strategic thinking
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and consistently demonstrate a high level of organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
